9 mo. Well Check

I took Ryler in for his 9 month check up & they drew some blood to test his iron & he was kind of sad, but Big Brother was right there to cheer him up!
It was so sweet!

Ryler's 9 Month Stats:
Weight: 23lbs 7 oz( 85%)
Height: 29" (75%)
Head: 19" (97%)

The doctor also prescribed some oil for his eczema that he has been fighting for months. It used to just be on his cheek, but now it has spread to his arms & up and down both legs...so hopefully it will help even out his skin! Overall, it was a QUICK, EASY appointment & Ryler is PERFECT in every way!

Volleyball

I LOVE Volleyball season! It was so fun to go & watch my lil' sister Heidi rock the court this week! This is her senior year & is AMAZING! Can't wait to see more of her games!
Love you Heidi!

Irrigation Shells

Last week, my good friend, April, was in town & Amy set it up so we could all meet for lunch one day. It was great to see both of them & eat yummy food & try to convince April that one day she needs to live in Mesa:) Maybe one day...

I dropped off Parker at my mom's, so that I could actually visit during lunch & he of course, had a lot more fun at Grandma's, then he would have at lunch.

In fact, right when we got home, he went and found his phone {and some sunglasses} to call Grandma & ask if he could come back to her house:)

Parker had an especially great time on this particular day with Grandma....because it was Irrigation Day! He got to drive down to the canal with Grandma to turn on the water valves & my mom walked him up and down the canal, collecting shells. When they got home, they hot glued their newly discovered shells to a piece of yarn...making a cool necklace for Parker. He was in heaven!

Who is Who???

yes...I KNOW there is a "recline" feature on strollers...

Catching that picture just as they fall asleep in the stroller is priceless:)

Can you tell who is who???

Both have rather large bald heads & look adorable when sleeping:)
Can you tell which one is Parker & which one is Ryler??? Don't cheat & look back and previous pics, just see if you can guess right!

Ryler-9 Months

Time for another update!
The months are FLYING by & this boy is still growing like a weed...
a cute, chubby weed.

Eating Habits:
This boy is DONE with jar food & only wants table food! He loves sitting at the table with his brother & eating meals & I haven't found anything he won't eat. He has 5 teeth now & can chew most anything...except for the occasional penny, dice, car, ect that he slips in his mouth before we can stop him! This boy puts EVERYTHING in his mouth, so I have to try to keep the floors CLEAN...which is almost impossible with a 2 year old! He LOVES to drink out of a cup and if he sees anyone drinking anything...he hurries over & begs for his own gulp!

Sleep Habits:
Ryler is a pretty good sleeper. We had a rough week or two this month when his tooth came in & I thought he might have an ear infection. Turns out it was just that tooth popping through & as soon as it broke through, his fever went away, his nose stopped running & his smiles returned. He is a GREAT napper & I am able to just lay him in his crib with his blanky and paci & he falls asleep on his own-taking two naps a day, each about 1 1/2 hours. He goes down pretty well at night, but still likes to wake up around 4-6am to eat & then falls back to sleep, so I guess I won't complain. I'm just looking forward to a straight 12 hours one of these nights!

Play Habits:
This kid is non-stop fun! Please, please don't compare your children to him, because he really is the happiest baby ever! He also thinks he is 2 years old & thinks he can play with no boundaries! We discovered the park this month(FINALLY cool enough if you get up before 8am) & he LOVES it! If I let him down, he is eating sand within seconds, so he spends a lot of time in the swings or on slides:)
It is funny I made this playhouse with Parker in mind, but I think Ryler likes it more! He LOVES playing in it & thinks it is even better when his brother is in there playing along with him!
We went to the youth museum for the 1st time this month & Ryler had the infant area ALL TO HIMSELF! He had fun playing with all of the toys, thanks to my sis-in-law Julie for bringing some extra socks...or he wouldn't have been allowed to play!

My dad is doing BETTER!! After weeks in the hospital, he is home & doing good! In fact, since this pic, he has ditched the walker & sweet white tights & has started working a few hours a day! Ryler LOVES my dad & I thought this moment was too cute!

*I think my dad was able to recover, because he wanted so badly to come home and see his grandkids grow up!

One of the MANY examples that Ryler thinks he is older than he is. All the kids were running up and down the {table} slides & Ryler joined right in the fun!
Ryler is such a JOY to have in our home!

Him & Parker play surprisingly well together & he already looks up to Parker so much! If he is ever sad, I can send Parker over to "make Ryler happy" & within seconds he is smiling and laughing!

Ryler started WALKING this month!
NO, your child is NOT behind! Ryler is in WAY TOO BIG OF A HURRY TO GROW UP! Many kids at this age aren't crawling yet! With Parker coaxing him along, I know he just wants to start running around with him! This is bitter sweet for me. I'm excited for my boys to be at similar stages, so they can RUN around together, but my BABY is growing up without asking me!

Happy 9 Months Ryler!
We Love you!!

The only thing I REALLY WANT for my birthday is for the City to HURRY UP & finish up the necessary paperwork, so that we can MOVE into our home! We have been on hold for months, waiting for a permit from the city & we are getting anxious! I'm HOPING that we can be in our house by my birthday!

Firestation under the Kitchen Table

The grandkids LOVE pulling out this Tepee at my in-laws house & as they were playing in it a couple weeks ago, I decided I needed to make something for the boys at OUR HOUSE...

We had an Enrichment Night Exchange a couple of weeks ago & everyone brought stuff they no longer wanted & then everyone go to "shop" for new stuff and take whatever they wanted for free!
I scored 2 huge rolls of upholstery fabric...and have plans to make some {free} curtains for our new house from it!
But I got MORE than enough for curtains, so I decided I could use some for this project as well! I searched through my SCRAP BOX of random fabrics from various projects that I have worked on & found this Fire Engine print(gifted to me by my mom) & blue/red/yellow stripe(leftover from some burp cloths/blankies I made) and decided that we would make a FIRE STATION instead of a Tepee...
And so I measured and started cutting (with my helpers of course)...I only had a small scrap of the striped fabric, but it was just enough to get the letters I needed...

I've seen people who have done playhouses over a card table that they can set up for their kids, but I decided I needed to do one over my KITCHEN TABLE...since I have one of those high, bar height tables, so there is LOTS of room under there for the kiddos to play:)

I didn't know exactly what I wanted or how it was going to turn out, but I figured my 2 year old would be forgiving if it didn't turn out just right...End Result= He LOVES it!

(I had my niece(3 yrs) and nephew(4 yrs) over yesterday & they LOVED it too, so it is for older kids as well! :)I still have more windows to cut out of the back & some more details to put on it & I have to take in the sides a little bit more, so the corners that hang over the table are nice and crisp, but I'm happy with it so far & so far the total is $1.77 !!!(I bought some biased tape for the windows)

I'm TRYING to use all of my scraps and make things work.
Yesterday I cut a black ladder out of some old work out pants that I want to put on one of the sides & I used an old blue towel for the water coming out of the hydrant! You'd probably be surprised at what you can make from scraps laying around your house!

When I see a smile like this, it makes me happy I took the time to create something for my BOYS!!!

Flashback Friday

For this week's Flashback Friday we are going to go back in time about 12 years...
to 1997.

And I am going to introduce you to MY COUSINS...
I was lucky enough to grow up with SEVERAL cousins that were my age!
I don't know if my mom & her sisters/sister-in-laws planned having children at the same time or if it just happened, but I have LOVED it, as my cousins are my best friends to this day!

Top Picture:
My Mom's side of the family
from left to right...

(we are all within a year apart in age)

Bottom Picture:

(the age gaps in this picture are a little larger...but we are all still within a couple of years of eachother...well, except for Granny) :-)

I'm so grateful to have a LARGE FAMILY & we still get together once a month for Family Night with both sides of the family, so I get to see these cousins at least once a month, which I LOVE! Now many of us are having kids at the same time & I hope our kids can be friends too!

Rogaine

Have you all been DYING to know what RYLER would look like with HAIR???

Maybe even PURPLE HAIR???

and maybe some bangs???

Now you know! :)

Making their own fun...

I may have a LARGE pile of LAUNDRY in the middle of my floor right now,
but I couldn't complain when I saw what Parker did with the newly emptied basket...

He pulled Ryler AROUND & AROUND & AROUND in that basket...
Ryler was cracking up &
Parker was getting tired...
both things that a mom loves to see!

I LOVE watching these two boys play together!!!

P.S.
Ryler is TAKING STEPS!

I've been trying to catch proof on video camera, but have yet to be successful.
Maybe soon.
But I don't want to forget that he started taking 2-3 steps at a time a couple of weeks ago!
Yesterday he walked from one couch to the next...about 3 steps.
He's crazy.
And still VERY wobbly...but he gets a kick out of being upright.

Can someone please stop my baby from growing up!?!

Baby or Babe

We were leaving for church last Sunday & I had Ryler on one hip and was trying to coax Parker out the door, so I could start getting them in the car.

Parker turned to me & said, "Mommy, where's babe?"
(He calls Ryler "Baby" 99 out of 100 times)

so I quickly replied, "He's right here" -showing that I was holding him on my hip

Parker said, "NOOOOO...where's Baaaabe?" Exaggerating the phrase this time.

I said, "Parker, look...he is right here...lets go get in the car please"

Parker said, "Where is BAAABE?"

All the sudden it hit me, I think he is talking about Matt...since I usually call him "Babe"
so I said,

"OHHHH...you mean daddy?"

He smiled & said, "Yes!"

I replied, "He is coming, just is just getting his shoes on"

Parker simply said, "Ok...and walked out the door"

He was just making sure that BABE...I mean DADDY was coming to church with us!:)

Flashback Friday

So I've decided that every FRIDAY(if I remember) I am going to do a FLASHBACK...

I'm going to post a picture from my past (it can be several years ago, or just a few years ago...as long as it was before I started blogging)
I think it will be fun to look back & write down some memories...for the sake of this blog being my journal!

Today Parker walked in from playing in the backyard & I had to snap a couple pictures of what he looked like...
COVERED in dirt & chalk.
it was even in his teeth!(no that is not a gap)

And I KNEW what my 1st FLASHBACK PICTURE would be...

A little 2 year old girl that LOVED to play in the dirt as much as Parker does now!

Like mother, like son.

Join me every Friday & post a picture of your past!!!
