We took Parker SWIMMING for the 1st time on Saturday night. Well-actually, we just dipped his feet in & he let us know that it was TOO COLD! He got "THE LIP" and if you haven't seen his lip, then you will have to check it out on our Video Blog. It is the cutest/saddest thing I've ever seen! He started crying & then as soon as Matt took his feet out of the water, he was fine:) I guess we will have to wait until the water gets a little warmer, before we try again! Oh well...at least he looked SO cute in his swimsuit!
"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, Brown paper packages tied up with strings...These are a few of my favorite things..."
Tag...I'm it! Courtney tagged me to list my 7 Favorite things...so here I go...
1. My #1 favorite thing is MY BOYS!!! Marrying Matt was the best decision I ever made & he continues to prove that by making me happier and happier each and every day! And Parker...well, just look at him...he makes me SOOOOO happy! I absolutely LOVE being a mom! 2. I love watching movies! I like the whole movie/popcorn combo & yes, I can eat an entire bag of popcorn myself(I know...disgusting) I TIVO the Saturday afternoon movies every week & Matt thinks I am so weird, because I don't even care if I've ever heard of it or if I've seen it 20 times...I just record it so I can watch it later in the week(gives me something to watch while I feed Parker)!
3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the feeling when you walk outside into this HOT Arizona heat & it blankets over you...immediately after I have been in a restaurant or church or some other FREEZING place. (Again...Matt thinks this is weird!) But I LOVE the feeling!(only for about 3 minutes & then I am just HOT!)
So...yesterday my parents celebrated their anniversary, I should know exactly what year but I do know it is more than 30 and less than 35 and they are absolutely amazing! The PERFECT example of where I want my marriage to be 30 years from now! I want to blog about them for a minute, because they are absolutely the most incredible parents in the world! Yesterday...to celebrate their anniversary, my mom worked all day to clean her house and make yummy goodies for my cousin's bridal shower that was at her house. My mom was happy to be the hostess, but knew she couldn't even be there for the shower when they asked if they could have it at her house. You see...Seminary graduation was lastnight and she needed to be there to support Brian Roberts(my sister-in-laws brother that has been living with my parents for the past couple years) as he graduated Seminary! {Sidenote: When Brian came to live with our family, he was 2+ years behind in Seminary and my mom told him that he was going to graduate with a 4 year degree and pushed him to make up EVERY SINGLE DAY that he had missed the previous 2 years---he had to do a worksheet for every day he missed & because of my mom...he did it!} My parents are ALWAYS putting everyone else 1st! They live lives of selfless service! That is why they are my heroes!:)
TEN REASONS WHY MY PARENTS ARE SO INCREDIBLE:
1) They had to raise me & didn't give up on me(even through my teenage years!)
2) My mom is the most amazing cook in the entire world...Nobody even compares!
3) My dad continues to take care of our 1 acre lot -yard, just because he knows my mom loves living there (when deep inside, he would love to move into a small home with NO yard to take care of!)
4) Every single day of their lives, they put eachother 1st! Always thinking of others & the best interest of their 7 kids & their spouses, friends, church members, neighbors & everyone else!
5) I can honestly say I have NEVER seen my parents fight, not even argue...not even once!
6) My dad works SO hard each week to provide for his family as the BEST Director that the Mesa Convention & Visitors Bureau has EVER seen!
7) I love my dad's passion for old cowboy comedies & my mom's inability to sit still long enough to watch a movie!
8) My mom cooks dinner EVERY Sunday for a complete army(At least 25 people each week) & my dad is always found in the kitchen washing all the dishes later that night!)
9) I watched my parents serve their parents night and day...up until the minute each one of them passed away. (This was the greatest example to me of service as I grew up). Now they CONTINUE to serve their stepmom's Each and Every day & will continue to do so as long as they are alive! We LOVE Granny & Grandma Nancy!
10) Because....they center their lives around Christ, live the Gospel to its fullest, have the strongest testimonies and...they LOVE EACHOTHER!!!
TEN!!! Parker ate & fell asleep @ 9:30pm lastnight & didn't eat again until 7:30am!!! Yeah for a 10 hour stretch without eating!!! May not sound too impressive for all of you with kids who sleep for 12 hours, but 10 hrs is a great step for us! And he ate at 7:30 and went right back to sleep until 9:30am...and woke up SO happy!:) He has been consistently eating about 9pm and sleeping til 9am, but waking once to eat about 5:30am, which is really pretty good. I decided lastnight that it was ME who was quick to feed him, because I was so FULL & thought that he probably could go longer! So...I didn't feed him at 5:30am and he was fine! I am going to try and push 1/2 hr each night this week and see if we can get it up to a full 12 hours. GREAT JOB PARKER!!! (yes...taking this picture is probably what woke him up at 9:30am this morning...but I figured he'd been asleep12 hours & that was long enough) Besides he woke up with a smile, so he must have had enough sleep! Also...you may think I am trying to suffocate my child with all those blankets, but Parker has to have a blanket on EACH side of his face in order to sleep!
I've been wanting to get Parker a walker for awhile now, because I figure it would give him something to do while I'm making dinner(haha...like that ever happens). Anyways...I thought he would enjoy it, because he likes to stand up & he is good at holding his head up now. Well, he seemed to really enjoy the cute Winnie the Pooh toys on it...but there is just one problem... ...his feet don't touch the floor yet! I put it on the lowest adjustment, but he is still a few inches away! I hope that means he is just too young for a walker, and not that he is a shorty!
I can't believe my BABY sister is 15!!! My little sister Heidi is so AMAZING! She's beautiful, talented, a good friend to everyone & so much fun to be around! Since I am smack dab in the middle of my 4 brothers...the girls are spaced pretty far apart. That is probably a good thing, otherwise we would have fought while growing up:) I just want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her, I can't believe she can start dating next year! Some guy is going to be so LUCKY someday to have her as their wife! We all got together for her birthday lastnight & ate pizza & cake while we watched the SUNS game-it was SO much fun!:)

I'm so Grateful for Matt's mom and the wonderful grandma she is to Parker! She does so much for her family and has done an amazing job raising her 5 children! ...and she did an ESPECIALLY good job raising Matt! THANK YOU!!! I'm so thankful for such a wonderful mother-in-law, I really lucked out! She has the kindest heart and is always concerned about those around her. I love watching her enjoy her 2 new grandkids & am grateful for the spirit that is always in their home! Thank you for everything you do - I love you!
THANK GOODNESS IT'S WEDNESDAY!!!
