I want to be like...

4-26-10
Tonight we were reading the scriptures in 1 Nephi...we were telling Parker how Nephi did not complain & listened to his daddy. His brothers Laman & Lemuel complained and didn't listen. We were getting ready to kneel down for prayers & we have been trying to get Parker to kneel the ENTIRE time & fold his arms & listen. He tends to get distracted after about 15 seconds:) After encouraging him to kneel down and listen, I said,

"Parker, do you want to be like Nephi & Sam or do you want to be like Laman & Lemuel?"

Parker said, "I just want to be like Parker!"

4-28-10
We are at the Doctor's office & Parker said, "I'm thirsty about water"
I corrected him & said, "I'm thirsty for water"
He said..."No mom...I'm thirsty 3 water"
(looking at me like I should KNOW how old he is!) ;-)

Metal Mouth

Parker may not have braces yet, but his mouth is already full of metal. His Dentist Appointment was last Wednesday & they were able to fill all of his cavaties & he now has 3 silver caps on 3 bottom molars:( I feel like it is all my fault. We have brushed his teeth for the past few years, but obviously not as well as we needed to.
Hopefully we have learned our lesson & Ryler's mouth won't cost us that much by age 3!

He wasn't allowed to eat anything after midnight the night before, which I didn't think would be a big deal, since he is asleep by then & I figured I would have to wake him up for his 7:30am appt. The nurse REALLY STRESSED how important it was that HE COULD NOT EAT OR DRINK.
She said, "Even if you are on your way to the appt & he reaches down in his carseat & finds a fruit loop & puts it in his mouth, then you need to call us and reschedule."

That fruit loop comment made me paranoid & I couldn't sleep all night. I kept imagining I heard him waking up & walking into the bathroom for a drink. At one point, I woke up and our door was opened. We ALWAYS sleep with our door shut, so I decided that Parker must have came in while I was sleeping, got a drink off of my nightstand & went back to bed. Not being able to sleep, I went back and forth about what I should do. Should I call in the morning, explaining that he got up for a drink...or should I play dumb and pretent I had no idea???
The next morning, Matt told me he had opened the door.

So...on no sleep, we went to the Dentist office,
Parker begging for a drink the entire drive.
I told him they would give him some juice when we got there.

We signed in and they took us to a small room with a movie playing, where we are to hang out for the next hour. She took him from me, around the corner, all ready to coax...beg...bribe him into drinking the liquid sedation stuff. He practically grabbed the "juice" from her hand & swallowed it as fast as he could. She was shocked & said she has NEVER seen a 3 yr old do that.

he was thirsty:)

They explained that he would probably doze off in the next 20 minutes to 1 hour...every child is different. We hung out in our little room, while Parker FOUGHT exhaustion.
He is REALLY...REALLY good at fighting off exhaustion...as we have discovered on MANY LATE nights. He fought & fought & when the hour was up, he was still awake. They came to take him anyways & said they would get him on some laughing gas & he would be out. They took him from my arms crying & I had to go wait in the waiting room:(

I sat worried that he would "fight" through the entire procedure, so I was grateful when the Dentist came out 10 minutes later & said he was fast asleep, they had taken X-rays & they were going to start the work.

They said he slept the entire time & did everything they asked. He was still "conscious" so he could open his mouth when they asked, etc.

When they were done, I was able to go back to the room, where we had to wait another 20 minutes or so, until they checked his vitals before leaving. He cried the whole time, saying his mouth hurt. I'm sure it felt WEIRD from the numbness & he did NOT like it.
He kept crying, finally falling asleep before picking up Ryler from Rob & Julie's house
(thanks for watching him!!!)
When we got home, he woke up and cried...
and cried...
and cried...for the rest of the day.
Ryler was also very cranky & they both wanted me to hold them & it was a
REALLY
LONG
DAY.

I hope I can look back and remember that day & it will REMIND me to BRUSH BRUSH BRUSH my kids teeth...whether they like it or not.

My sister Heidi brought us frozen yogurt after school...the only 30 minutes of sanity I had all day. Parker continued crying the whole time, but at least she played with Ryler & made him happy!

Towards the evening, we finally convinced Parker to take some Tylenol & he FINALLY stopped crying.

The next day, he was back to his normal, HAPPY self!

& I was SO GLAD that day was over...

Evenings at the Park

We have been spending at least one night a week at the park as a family.
We usually grab take-out & Matt and I get to visit, while our boys play.

Brainy Ryler

This kid has been CRACKIN ME UP! He LOVES to wear glasses & thinks it is hilarious when we stick our sunglasses on him. This morning he was walking around with these on...
& every time they would fall off, he would make me put them back on:)

OH...I could just kiss those cheeks ALL DAY LONG!!!

Family Game Night

Friday night we played Family Pictionary.
Ryler was our designated "Eraser".
He did his job well.
Sometimes too well & erased before we guessed:)

My favorite part?
Parker's underwear being
inside out AND backwards
& it would creep up a little more each time he got up to draw & Matt and I would laugh a little more each time he stood up:)

What? You don't know what he drew?
It is a scorpion of course!

We also played Operation
and
That little fishy game where they go in circles & you have to catch the fish on your little poles.

It was FUN!!!

Pat's Run

I ran in Pat's Run this morning at ASU
& while 4.2 miles probably seems like nothing to a lot of you...this was a huge accomplishment for me!

I'm NOT a runner...in fact, I don't think I have run a mile since 9th grade track.
Sad, I know.

So...when my friend Mandy asked if I wanted to do this run with her about 6 weeks ago, I was nervous, but decided to go for it!

We made up a schedule & started running a couple times a week at 6am.
Yes, you heard me.
SIX...O...CLOCK...IN...THE...MORNING!
If you know me...you KNOW I'm not a morning person. In fact, I avoid getting up early at all costs. So this was a BIG SACRIFICE for me. Waking up at 5:45am is not ideal, but neither is my waistline, so I committed & I'm glad I did.

The first day we ran, we weren't able to go very far, but slowly as the weeks past...
we built up our strength and endurance
& were able to go farther each week.
I was so happy that I didn't quit!
(even though there were several nights that I wanted to call her and back out of going the next morning)
Plus I was able to lose about 7 lbs in the process...I wish it was a little more, but I can't complain about losing.

Matt & Parker came to cheer me on & took some pictures as we entered the stadium(we ended on the 42 yd line-since Pat's ASU# was 42)...

We wore BLUE so that our families could spot us easily:)
Almost finished...

Tired & Red-faced, but still smiling!:)

I am SOOOO glad I did this!
It was so good to set a goal & work towards it.
THANKS MANDY!!!

------------------------

Next up...KIDS RUN = .42 miles
Parker & Tommy(Mandy's son) flexing their muscles before their race began)

Parker had to go to the bathroom last minute:(
So we missed the race starting & the excitement of all the kid's taking off at the start line...

Parker ran SOME...

but MOSTLY wanted one of us to carry him:)

He was SO TIRED from getting up early, but it was fun & I'm glad we had him do it.

He was fine to run around the field AFTER the race was over:)

So proud & showing off his shirt:)

Time to go home...

...Well, after I grab a cool drink:)
It was so fun, we all came home EXHAUSTED, but it was worth it!

1st Sunburn of the Year

The weather has been BEAUTIFUL lately & we have been living it up!

Yesterday we went to the PARK with some friends from the ward.

Then we went to Heidi's Track Meet...she got 1st place-Awesome Job Heidi!"

Then we played in Grandma & Grandpa's backyard after the meet...

Poor Ry.
He tried his hardest to stand up & as soon as he would, Parker would JUMP & knock him back down to this position...
Luckily he thought it was hilarious & just kept laughing:)
Life doesn't get much better than this!

Spotting an Airplane!

I joined in & they JUMPED all over me! :)

When I was getting them in the bath last night, I quickly realized that with all of the time spent OUTDOORS...sunscreen might be a good choice in the future.

Weekend Review

Friday Night we had a Girls Night Out & some friends came over & we watched a Double Feature of Twilight & New Moon in my parent's backyard on the big screen! At first I didn't think it would be cold enough for hot chocolate, but it got COLD!!! It was fun to watch & giggle & make fun of the acting & laugh & narrate & visit...all while bundled up in blankets, freezing! It was such a fun night. If you are a Twilight fan, we are already planning a Girls Night to see Eclipse in June! :)

Saturday night was DATE NIGHT:)
We doubled with my best friend, Amy, and went to Nando's for dinner(delicious! Try their Pollo Rico, it is my favorite!) & then went to see the movie, Date Night.
It was HILARIOUS!
I haven't laughed that much during a movie in a long time.
Maybe ever.
And It portrays marriage perfectly:)

Matt and I hadn't been to the movies together since Parker was born.
Yes...it has been over 3 years...
It was such a fun night!

PPP

We met Matt for lunch Friday at Peter Piper Pizza.
The boys were in heaven.
This is the first time we have been there, where Ryler actually PLAYED & he was lovin' life!

As soon as this thing started going around, Ryler's face FROZE. It was hilarious. He was holding on for LIFE. Unfortunately I didn't get a good pic of him, but it was funny!

Daddy lifting Ryler up to see Parker inside the Helicopter...

Basketball is a family favorite...

And we love the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet!

They even made Ryler is VERY OWN MINI PIZZA with NO CHEESE!
I was VERY impressed with the worker that took our order. He was just making small talk, asking if he can eat table food yet & I said, Yes...but not pizza, since he is allergic to dairy. He immediately said, "I will make him one...what do you want on it!?" So...Ry got a little sauce, pepperoni, ham pizza & devoured it! SO NICE!!!

Best friends!

It was a great way to spend the afternoon!!!

No Camera:(

Our camera is broken
I feel sorta lost without being able to take pictures of all of the messes my kids make, their adorable smiles & the projects I have made...

Hopefully we get a new one SOON.

Until then...enjoy this pic I took a few weeks ago of Parker...getting drunk of rootBEER:)

Switching Dentists

I took Parker to the Dentist today...
Yes, we JUST WENT a month ago.But I've been feeling uneasy about it ever since we went.
I talked to my sis-in-law, Amy, and she suggested we get a second opinion(thanks Amy!)

I took him to see the new Dentist today & I feel SO MUCH BETTER about everything. Not only will it cost HALF as much...which is huge by itself! But they are not going to IV Sedate him(which I was nervous about) & they explained things more thoroughly, had a nicer office & overall I was just more comfortable with everything.

Even though we are really good about brushing his teeth NOW...we were NOT good in the past. I highly suggest that you brush your kids teeth...even if they kick and scream. It will be worth it. I'm not looking forward to his next appointment to have all of his cavities filled..
AT ALL.

BUT...at least it won't be quite as expensive as we thought!

Easter Sunday

The Hubers have been friends of our family for as long as I can remember & we have adopted them as a 3rd set of Grandparents in our children's lives!
They always do WAY TOO MUCH for our children for Christmas & Easter & Birthdays and...just about any day they can think of to spoil our cute kids!

They dropped off Easter basket for all of the grandkids on Sunday & the kids were in HEAVEN...

Full of candy, books, sidewalk chalk, TOYS, socks, bowls & more...

I think my boys thought it was Christmas all over again:)

Elizabeth made the cutest flower arrangements for each of us too-I love mine!

Thank you "Grandma & Grandpa Huber" & Chris & Elizabeth!!!
