My girlfriends went out to eat lastnight and somewhere during the conversation
my JOURNAL entered the conversation.
I'm trying to remember
why it came up???
Oh...yes, someone brought up that it is still weird to them that Matt & I got married
(since they all knew us both in highschool)We get that a
LOT.Crystal asked if we always liked eachother?Brittany was trying to remember if we ever dated? We were trying to remember if Matt was as funny as he is now, back in highschool?I told them it is funny to read back in my journals and see the times that I did in fact like him...and others where "he was the worst date ever!" (Senior Co-Ed Dance) & the time when Catherine & I sat on his front porch, begging him to teach us the Men in Black dance & how we were in highschool Newspaper together & he would always try to convince someone else to write his article for him. Or about the time that I went to Scout Camp with him...well not just him, the whole ward(it was at my family's cabin, so technically I was at the cabin & the boys were in the meadow) but I would wander down during the days...Bryan recently reminded me that he remembers me throwing a cow pie in the fire at that campout. That must have been when I won over Matt's heart.
Yep, I'm sure that was the moment.Catherine then commented last night, that she remembered how good I was to always write in my journal & that she loved to read it
{insert snicker from Catherine & gasp from me, not knowing she used to read it!} :) I couldn't really deny the fact. I DID write in my journal.
A LOT. You know that first lesson when you are a little 12 year old Beehive on "Family History & the importance of Journal Keeping"...
I took it very seriously.
VERY.Anyways...
my point...YES...I have a point! I LOVE to go back and read about the boys I liked, my hobbies, my attempts to run away, the time I moved into the bathroom, our family vacations, surprise birthday parties...that I found out about, football games, & more!
But since I started blogging...I see no need to "journal" because I feel like that is what a blog is.
A journal WITH pictures, which in my opinion will be even better to look back & read one day!
Does anyone feel the same way?
So I blog{who made up the word blog anyways, it's kind of an ugly word) for myself & for my kids...not for comments(although I do love to read yours) & typing is sooooo much faster than writing in my journal ever was!
Soooo...
I encourage everyone to "Journal"---
If blogging isn't for you, whip out a paperbound notebook and go to town, make a personal folder in Microsoft word and type something every day, compile a scrapbook with details about your pictures...
...WHATEVER you like best! But I promise that one day you will be glad you did!
Because I LOVE reading the journal entries of my relatives that have passed on.
I love looking back and reading my journal from years past.
I love peeking into YOUR lives through your blogs & seeing what you are journaling about!
I had NO idea that I would marry "Matt Allen" one day...the cute boy in my kindergarten class, but I'm SURE GLAD I wrote in my journal all those years...because it is so fun to look back and see what I thought about him BEFORE I was in love with him!
And who knows...maybe one day, my kids will enjoy reading about it too!?!
You still don't see my point in all of this rambling?
OK...I'll give it you straight and simple.
You should journal...in my opinion.
