Church Policy

In regards to new church policy, there has been so much hate and bitterness surrounding me, especially on Facebook. I have literally felt the spirit leave as I have allowed my emotions to take over and feel frustration over the things I have seen and heard. While I know everyone has good intentions and wants to love and accept everyone, our society has accepted gay marriage and the church has not...and many have decided that they need to speak badly of the church for their decision. It hurts me to watch and listen to so many close family members and friends attack something so dear to me and claim that it affects only them. My heart is hurting right along with everyone else and I am sad for those that  are in pain over this new church policy. With that being said, I believe that this policy was revelation from God and know that Satan is using this to create a wedge between families. I love everyone and know God does too. He doesn't care what gender or race you are or what your political views are. He loves you. And  He is kind. Sadly, that is what is missing from the world right now and because there is not a lot of face to face interaction, everyone becomes a little bolder behind a computer screen or phone and stands up for their beliefs, even at the expense of others feelings. Oh how I wish we could all get along. I know we will watch the world go deeper and deeper into destruction, before the second coming, but I have such a strong desire to encourage kindness and love. I feel like that is the ONLY way we will find the strength to fight off Satan. I believe we are going to need each other, in more ways than one and I know that if we can find it in our hearts to put aside our differences, our strength will outweigh Satan's power over us any day. I will do anything that my Father in Heaven asks of me and that includes supporting a policy that may not be liked by all. As hard as it has been to watch the disagreements and hate going around, it has strangely allowed opportunities for me to grow in my own testimony. I feel thankful for this time in my life to see where I want my family to stand at the last days. I know my Father lives and loves me...and loves gay people and black people and white people and make and female...He loves us all the same! But still allows us the opportunity to make choices for ourselves and be responsible for our own actions. For that I am grateful!

I Know the Scriptures are True

With a new Primary theme this year, we

decided to challenge the Primary Children to read the Book of Mormon. While I felt excited to help the families in our ward read together, I had no idea the impact it would have in my own home. These boys have been such examples to me...reading first thing in the morning if they have time before school, reading after school and usually begging to stay up late to read "just one more chapter". I love listening to them ask questions about what they are reading and I have already seen small changes for the better in attitudes and I feel a stronger sense of love in our home. I am thankful for this challenge and know I need it more than any of my children. I struggle with daily scripture study and I have made the goal for 2016 to make it a regular habit! I know that as I do, I will find greater peace and understanding and I know my testimony will be strengthened.

Heavy Heart

My heart aches tonight. A young family in Mesa lost their little 4 year old girl last night, as she ran into the road and was hit by a car. This morning, the mom delivered her fourth child, hours after losing another. I can't even imagine the emotions this family is feeling right now and my heart aches for the driver that hit the little girl. How quickly our lives can change and how grateful I am for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I lay here...next to my 4 year old. Listening to him breathe deeply as he sleeps. My husband is out of town and he was so excited to share my bed with me tonight and I was grateful to not have to sleep alone. Oh how I love that boy. To even try to imagine my life without him, hurts my heart. I hugged my 4 little ones a little tighter tonight and my testimony strengthen a little more. With each heartache and trial, I seem to know with a greater surety that my Father in Heaven is real and my Savior, Jesus Christ understands my pain.
